Trauma Sensitive Yoga
Trauma often makes us feel powerless and unsafe in our own body. Trauma Sensitive Yoga (also known as Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga or TCTSY) can help restore one’s connection with their body and cultivate a sense of agency. TCTSY is a yoga-based and empirically validated intervention for individuals with complex trauma or PTSD.
What sets Trauma Sensitive Yoga apart?
- Rather than focusing on external appearance (i.e. doing it “right”), we focus on participants’ experience in their body.
- By utilizing invitational language and focusing on one’s felt sense of their body, participants are invited to make choices, cultivate their sense of agency, and foster a more positive relationship with their body.
- Trauma Sensitive Yoga avoids physical adjustments. Instead, it empowers participants to engage in movements based on their own body’s cues.
