This hands-on experience allows trainees to work alongside experienced agency staff and gain meaningful, real-world learning within one of Houston’s leading substance use and mental health organizations.
Learning Opportunities
Students have opportunities to engage in a range of clinical and service roles across the agency, supporting individuals, families, and programs at multiple levels of care. Macro-level students may also contribute to program development, evaluation, and service enhancement initiatives. Trainees receive extensive, ongoing training and professional development opportunities throughout their placement, fostering strong clinical skills, systems-level understanding, and professional identity. Placements are generally a minimum of two semesters, allowing for depth of experience, continuity of learning, and integration into the agency’s mission-driven work.
