The Council on Recovery is Houston’s leading source of Recovery Support Peer Specialist training. The 3-day Core Training and 5-day Supplemental Training gives participants the tools and resources to help others on their chosen path to recovery. These trainings are interactive and will offer a comprehensive overview of the purpose, roles, and skills of providing Peer Support while giving participants the tools and resources to support others.
Recovery Support Peer Specialists use their lived experience and training to support individuals on their recovery journey. They provide person-centered, non-clinical guidance with challenges such as housing, employment, education, community resources, navigating systems like health care, drug court or probation, and locating treatment resources. Through meaningful one-on-one relationships, they help people build recovery skills, connect with supportive communities, including Twelve Step meetings and other support groups.
