Meet Your Instructor

Cathy Herrington Hale is a Houston-based attorney, entrepreneur, and lifelong learner with a passion for American Mahjong. A board-certified family lawyer with the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and founder of the Herrington Law Firm, she has built her career on guiding clients through complex situations with clarity, strategy, and intuition—skills that translate seamlessly to the Mahjong table.

After discovering the game, Cathy quickly immersed herself in both teaching and competitive play, including national tournaments. She blends tradition, competition, and community into her approach, believing Mahjong is more than a game—it’s connection, confidence, and bold decision-making.

Cathy is a member of the Mahj Life Instructor Guild and a certified OMM instructor, always striving to learn more and share with other Mahjong enthusiasts.

Whether in the courtroom or at the table, Cathy thrives on strategy, focus, and reading the room. When she’s not practicing law or teaching a lesson, she can be found chasing that elusive heavenly hand and enjoying the camaraderie that makes Mahjong so special.
