Healthy Women Houston
Healthy Women Houston is a collaboration of The Council on Recovery, Avenue 360 Health & Wellness, Hope Clinic, Community Health Choice, Harris County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, Memorial Hermann Health System, and other community partners.
The collaborative was formed to address the rising rate of maternal mortality and morbidity in the Houston area. It brings together key healthcare and social support providers to create a new system of care for women. Healthy Women Houston integrates health, behavioral, and social supports for pregnant and post-partum women, and especially women at higher risk of maternal morbidity and mortality.
Substance abuse is a leading cause of maternal death during pregnancy or shortly thereafter. The Council brings decades of experience supporting pregnant and post-partum mothers who struggle with substance use to this collaborative, as well as a passion and commitment to serving women and families with confidential, compassionate, and personalized support.
Healthy Women Houston serves the communities of Third Ward, OST, Sunnyside, and Braes Oaks.
